Although the days of Ramadan are behind us, the stories that were created during that period continue to live on through those to whom they meant the most. Among them is a family from Goražde, members of the Association for Persons with Special Needs of the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton, where a boy on the autism spectrum is growing up.
During Ramadan, this family, together with other families involved in the association’s work, received a Ramadan support package worth 100 EUR. However, its value was not only in the groceries that made their daily life easier, but in the feeling that someone is thinking of them and understands their needs.
Caring for a child on the autism spectrum brings additional challenges – from organizing daily activities to adapting the environment and ensuring the stability that is especially important for children. In such circumstances, every form of support carries special meaning.
Through its various activities, Foundation Second strives to stand by families facing challenges, building a space of understanding, inclusion, and togetherness – both in Sarajevo and in other parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This story reminds us that Ramadan is not only a time of giving, but also a time when we learn how to be present for one another. And what begins in that time does not end with its passing.
Because sincere care does not last only one month. It remains – in everyday life, in memory, and in the feeling that no one is forgotten.
Just before the end of the month of Ramadan, in a warm and heartfelt atmosphere, a joint iftar was organized for the children and staff of the Home for Children without Parental Care Sarajevo, as well as for children from small family homes in Sokolović Kolonija, Blagovac, Marijin Dvor, and Kovačići.
Although the days of Ramadan are behind us, the memories created in its spirit stay with us for a long time. Below, we share a photo gallery from the final weekend spent in Ledići – as a reminder of a time filled with joy, closeness, play, and the warmth of togetherness.
The association Mali ambasadori delighted children in the Small Family Home in Ledići with a valuable donation of educational books and coloring materials, bringing yet another warm story into the everyday life of this special place.
During the month of Ramadan, a time when togetherness and care for others take on a special meaning, another iftar was organized for children without parental care – this time in the beautiful setting of Swissotel in Sarajevo. This 5-star hotel joined the large family of hospitality venues that have been organizing iftars for children in alternative care for the fifth consecutive year.
